Méthos is a research & innovation consultancy driven by a commitment to strive for a better, more equitable and sustainable society.
Who we are
We are a team of researchers, consultants, designers for whom Méthos is a vehicle for personal development through ‘good work’, rewarding relationships and the opportunity to contribute constructively to our society’s gravest challenges.
We have spent the past decade observing and listening to societies, cultures, citizens and clients. With this knowledge in hand, we help organisations develop innovative strategies, services and policies.
Our expertise is grounded in social sciences. Our 15-year track record has led to a unique and finely honed set of skills: ethnography, systems thinking, participation and collective intelligence.
Our approach helps our clients understand the world around us, make better decisions and prioritize them. People are at the heart of what we do.
Most of our projects bring about change, which we navigate with our clients. We do so by sparking enthusiasm, creating momentum and empowering people. We work hand in hand to ensure that our clients own the project and reap its rewards.
We are fully invested in every one of our assignments, create compelling deliverables and a stimulating learning environment for our colleagues, partners and clients. We always strive for durable solutions rather than quick fixes, that’s why we have built long-term relationships with most of our clients.
We believe in immersion, in-depth observation and collective intelligence to understand social phenomena and solve problems.
We use ethnography because it allows us to get as close as possible to the reality of human behaviour. Our method is inductive, inspired by the "Grounded Theory" in sociology. This means we don’t formulate hypotheses until we have spent enough time in the field, close to the situations we study and the people we work with. This is where we can fully understand what matters.
“Ethnography research yields rich forms of knowledge and understanding that can make a pivotal contribution to longer range strategic planning and near term tactical or operational activity.”
Ken Anderson, HBR March 2009.
TRANSFORMING TO HAVE AN IMPACT
We combine insights from social sciences, design thinking and participatory methods to build tangible solutions for our clients.
Each of our projects is tailored to the issue we are tackling. We approach new subjects with an open mind and fresh eyes even though most of our projects usually follow a similar sequence: from exploration to identifying opportunities to prototyping and development. The emphasis we place on each sequence varies depending on our client's needs. A project at Méthos doesn’t necessarily end with delivering results and recommendations. We then work towards implementing and applying what we’ve learned, with a focus on impact and actionability.
